Texas A&M Softball’s Kennedy Named USA Softball Player of the Year Finalist

OKLAHOMA CITY – Texas A&M softball ace Emiley Kennedy has been named a top 26 finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, the organization announced Wednesday.

Regarded as one of the nation’s top pitchers, Kennedy ranks third in the country in shutouts (8) and eighth in complete games (19). The junior has registered 20 wins, the 12th most in the nation, while her 165 strikeouts are 25th most. Kennedy, a native of The Woodlands, Texas, has come in relief earning five saves, which ranks No. 20 in the NCAA.

The left-handed pitcher boasts a 1.005 WHIP and is holding opposing hitters to a .170 batting average. Kennedy has earned three weekly honors, including D1 Softball National Pitcher of the Week on March 12 and twice the SEC Pitcher of the Week in back-to-back weeks on February 19 and February 26.

She became the first Aggie pitcher since 2016 to reach 20 wins in a season, while her 78 strikeouts in SEC play ties a program record.

Texas A&M closes out the regular season in a three-game set at No. 9 Florida beginning Friday at 6 p.m. at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
