News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 11 Texas A&M softball team run-ruled Houston, 12-2, in five innings to extend its winning streak to seven games, Tuesday night at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (38-9) plated five runs in the second inning and seven runs in the fourth as nine different Aggies scored, including Amari Harper, Koko Wooley and Rylen Wiggins crossing home plate multiple times.
Leading 5-2 in the fourth, the Aggies began to put the game out of hand as Jazmine Hill hit an RBI single, followed by Trinity Cannon smashing her team-leading 12th home run, a three-run shot. Three batters later with two runners on base, Wiggins followed suit with a three-run moonshot of her own as the Aggies cruised to run-rule territory with a 12-2 lead. It marked Texas A&M’s 15th multi-home run game of the season.
Houston (23-24) threatened first in the top of the second loading the bases with one out, before Aggie starter Emily Leavitt escaped the bases loaded jam with a strikeout and fielder’s choice.
Texas A&M struck first in the second frame scoring five runs on two hits and two errors. The Cougars continued to pressure offensively leading off the third with three straight singles before an RBI groundout scored a run to chip away at the Texas A&M 5-1 lead with one out.
Following a hit-by-pitch to load the bases, Emiley Kennedy came in relief to earn her 20th win of the season pitching 2.2 innings and striking out three, while yielding one hit, one walk and one run. Kennedy became the first Aggie pitcher to record 20 wins in a season since Samantha Show (25) in 2016.
The Maroon & White finished the regular season 24-2 at Davis Diamond, marking the .923 winning percentage as highest since the stadium was built in 2018 and the highest home winning percentage since Texas A&M went 25-0 at the Aggie Softball Complex in 2011.
