Texas A&M president Michael Young’s appearance at the September faculty senate meeting included answering questions about developing space between buildings and bus issues.

Young said groundbreaking is possible in November on redeveloping the green space east of Kyle Field between the Association of Former Students and Koldus buildings. Young says the goal of Aggie Park is to create a lake and a terraced lawn, and down the road a possible amphitheater. Young says there’s a need for about six of those kinds of parks to improve the quality of space between buildings on the flagship campus.

Responding to questions about bus service, Young said to contact the director of transportation services. The president said most calls are about getting students from off-campus to campus. He says they respond to on-campus bus issues if they are notified.

As for getting from one location to another on the 5,500 acre campus, Young says the campus master plan identifies eliminating what he called “difficult walking paths or what the architect calls cowpaths”. And the master plan also calls on separating walking space from what Young described as “I’m going to be nutty on a bike or a scooter or a skateboard space”.
