Texas A&M President Announces Review Of Sexual Assault Investigations

Texas A&M president Michael Young has issued statements each of the last two weeks regarding sexual assault cases reported on the Aggie campus.

President Young announced the university has hired an outside firm to conduct an external review of how A&M deals with Title nine sexual assault investigations.

The president also named A&M’s newly hired vice president for diversity to chair an internal task force that will include the school’s chief compliance officer, faculty, staff, and students.

Young continued to invite suggestions from those in and outside the A&M community, by sending an e-mail to feedback@tamu.edu.

The president’s update was issued three days after a federal lawsuit was filed that in part states A&M “creates an environment in which the accused is nearly assured” of being found responsible of sexual misconduct…and that “the accused is a male in virtually all cases of sexual misconduct at Texas A&M”.
