News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
CLEVELAND – With only the NCAA Men’s College World Series remaining, Texas A&M stands No. 12 in the 2023-24 Division I Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced.
With coach Jim Schlossnagle’s baseball team participating in the MCWS, Texas A&M is on course to post its highest finish in more than a decade. It will also be Texas A&M’s 18th straight appearance in the Directors’ Cup top 25. The Aggies are one of 11 teams nationally to finish in the top 25 every season since 2005-06. Joining Texas A&M in the elite group are: Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, Stanford, Texas, UCLA and USC.
All 19 of Texas A&M’s NCAA-sponsored sports advanced to the postseason and 18 will contribute points to the final standings, including 100 points by coach Mark Weaver’s NCAA Champion women’s tennis team and 60-plus point efforts from men’s outdoor track & field (75), men’s indoor track & field (73.5), women’s golf (72.75), women’s outdoor track & field (66), softball (64), men’s tennis (64), women’s swimming & diving (61.5) and womens indoor track & field (61.5). The baseball team will contribute at least 73 points for advancing to Omaha.
Additionally, Texas A&M’s equestrian team, the department’s lone non-NCAA program, advanced to the semifinals of the NCEA Championship.
The LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in NCAA Championships.
