Jim Schlossnagle Confirms Leaving Texas A&M For Texas

Jim Schlossnagle confirmed Tuesday evening leaving Texas A&M to become head baseball coach at the University of Texas. Schlossnagle issued the following statement on Texas A&M athletics X/Twitter account: “I would like to thank General Welsh, Trev Alberts and the 12th Man for an incredible experience during my time at Texas A&M. Although I know many will be upset with my decision, I chose to make a change to join a longtime friend to continue my career as a college baseball coach. The run to the National Championship game was truly a remarkable one this year, and I will savor the memories and true friendships I have made there for a lifetime.” A&M athletic director Trev Alberts issued the following statement: “After our baseball team arrived back in College Station earlier today, Jim informed me of his desire to leave Texas A&M. While we are certainly disappointed, we are grateful for his contributions in helping our baseball program reach unprecedented heights. Baseball success is important to everyone associated with Texas A&M, we will not stop in our pursuit of excellence and our commitment to baseball will not waiver. On behalf of Texas A&M Athletics, we wish Jim and his family well as they move on to another challenge. We will find a great leader and excellent coach to head up this proud Aggie baseball program.”

Brazos County Commissioners Are Asked To Get Involved In Removing Medians Along Texas Avenue In Bryan

Brazos County commissioners are asked to get involved in removing medians along Texas Avenue in Bryan. The request during the public comment portion of Tuesday’s (June 25th) meeting came from a man who lives northeast of Bryan who was recently taken by ambulance to the hospital after he received more than 100 bee stings while mowing. Charles G. Mancuso also thanked those who he said saved his life. State law did not allow commissioners to respond because the topic was not on the meeting agenda. Click below to hear Charles G. College Station’s Mayor Asks Brazos County For More Money To Widen Greens Prairie Road

September marks two years since the College Station city council accepted $4.2 million dollars from Brazos County for the city to administer the widening of Greens Prairie Road that remains in the county. The current project budget is $6.3 million…a number that mayor John Nichols brought up at the last council meeting will only get higher. That led the mayor to ask city manager Bryan Woods during the council’s June 13th meeting to ask the county for more money. Construction won’t start for at least 18 months, as the city has just started the process of acquiring right of way. The request was not brought up during the county commission’s meetings on June 18th or June 25th.
