Texas A&M Men’s Golf Releases Spring Slate

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The spring portion of the 2024-25 Texas A&M men’s golf schedule features six tournaments before heading into the Aggies’ championship season, head coach Brian Kortan announced Monday.

The spring gauntlet is familiar for the Aggies as they make return trips to five of the six vernal events from the 2023-24 campaign.

The lone change from last year’s slate is the spring opener. The Aggies lift the lid on the home stretch February 2-3 in Florida with the Sea Best Invitational at Atlantic Beach Country Club. Texas A&M won the 2020 Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass Dye’s Valley Course, edging out Florida by two strokes.

A trip to Hawaii is next on the docket with the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on the Ocean Course at Hokuala slated for Feb. 20-22. Texas A&M owns a pair of titles at the Burns Intercollegiate, winning the tournament in 2009 and 2018.

A loaded field is expected once again for the Southern Highlands Collegiate March 2-5 in Las Vegas. Last season, all 15 teams were in the top 70 of the Clippd National Golf Rankings, including eight teams in the top 25 and three of the top four.

The Aggies look to win their fourth consecutive Louisiana Classics title when they travel to Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette March 10-11. Last season, Phichaksn Maichon bludgeoned the field, tying Sam Bennett’s tournament record score of 18-under 198 to win by eight strokes to earn his second career victory.

Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City hosts the talent-laden Valspar Collegiate March 24-25. The Aggies have posted third place finishes at the tournament three times, including 2014, ’16 and ’18.

Texas A&M hosts the 16th annual Aggie Invitational April 12-13 at Traditions Club. The Maroon & White has won the event on five occasions, including 2010, ’11, ’14, ’21 and ’22. Last season, Jaime Montojo shared individual medalist honors in his first collegiate victory.

The SEC Championship returns to Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia, with dates inked for April 23-27 Texas A&M has advanced to the semifinal round each of the last league tournaments.

Six courses have been selected to host NCAA Regionals from May 12-14. The closest venues for the Aggies are Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The other sites include Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington; Montreux Golf and Country Club in Reno, Nevada; Poplar Grove Golf Course in Amherst, Virginia; and Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee.

The NCAA Championship makes its second appearance on the Champions Course at Omni La Costa in Carlsbad, California, from May 23-28.
