News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men’s golf team received certification of appropriate paperwork for one of the most coveted high school players in the nation, head coach Brian Kortan announced Wednesday.
Shiv Parmar, a standout from Selma, Texas, will join the team for the 2025-26 campaign.
“I’m extremely excited for Shiv and his commitment,” Kortan said. “He is a great fit on both the talent side and the culture piece of Aggie golf. He’s a top 15 ranked player nationally in the class and the third ranked player in Texas which speaks to his success on the course. He’s a blue-collar young man who works his tail off. Coach (Matt) Fast and I are continually impressed by his infectious attitude and love for the game. He’s incredibly competitive which shows when you watch him play. Shiv will compete to travel from day one.”
In an epic comeback, Parmar fired birdies in four of his last six holes to win the 98th Texas Junior Amateur in September. He started the final round of the tournament down five strokes before the late charge at White Bluff Resort.
He also won 2024 titles at April’s AJGA Mizuno Junior and January’s Legends Junior Tour (LJT) Winter Classic. This year he also placed fourth at the AJGA Mercy Health Junior Foundation Championship and fifth at the AJGA Jordan Spieth Junior Championship.
Parmar, who claims Olympia Hills Golf Club as his home course, also won titles in 2023 at the LJT Alamo Shootout and Mack Champ Invitational. He finished third at the 2023 LJT Texas Cup. He also claimed the title at the prestigious Adidas Junior All-Star in 2022.
“Coach Kortan and I are thrilled to have Shiv join Aggie golf next season,” Fast said. “It’s been exciting to watch him play and grow into a solid player over his junior career. He’s a gritty competitor that knows his game extremely well. He has an exceptional short game and consistently finds a way to put together good scores. Shiv will elevate our team’s performance and culture and we’re excited for him to be on campus in August.”
