News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Former Houston Texans operations and logistics manager Grant Hendrix will serve as the director of operations for the Texas A&M men’s basketball team, head coach Buzz Williams announced on Tuesday.
Hendrix held a variety of roles for the Texans over the past six years, including as the team’s football operations and team logistics manager since 2022.
“Before this position was even available, from a trusted friend of mine, I was made aware of Grant,” Williams said. “As the model of athletics has continued to change, so has the skillset for each position on our staff. Nobody has the answers on where it will all evolve to, but Grant’s talents match what I think is and will be required. His gifts will allow him to have traction immediately, and we are grateful he has joined ‘Team Bus #1’!
Hendrix was responsible for all of the Texans’ lodging needs and managing hotel relationships within Houston while also overseeing communication with airline ground operations for all road game travel. He supported new player and staff onboarding as well as any other logistical needs within the club. Additionally, he was a member of the Special Teams unit, assisting with all on-field needs and practices.
He previously served as the executive assistant for former Texans head coach David Culley, helping create practice scripts, form daily itineraries and overseeing correspondence. He started his career with the Texans as an intern in football operations and facilities in 2019.
A 2017 graduate of Auburn University, Hendrix began his career in athletics as a graduate assistant in facilities and operations (2018-19) and the business office (2017-18) at Auburn, while pursuing a pair of master’s degrees in business administration (MBA) and information systems (MSIS). His undergraduate degree was in business administration with a double major of finance and entrepreneurship & family business.
Hendrix replaces Luke Hillin, who has been a mainstay of Williams’ staff for the past five seasons, including the last three as the team’s Chief of Staff. Hillin joined the men’s basketball program originally in 2017.
“As excited as we are to welcome Grant, it is important to honor Luke for all he has done the last five years for us. He has played an integral part in all operations of our program since we arrived in April 2019. We are excited for he and his family in the next step of his career and know he will play a vital role in what (University of Tulsa Vice President & Director of Athletics) Justin (Moore) will successfully build at Tulsa.”
