Texas A&M Men’s Basketball Adds SEC Transfer Cade Phillips to 2026-27 Roster

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

Texas A&M men’s basketball added SEC transfer Cade Phillips to the 2026-27 roster, head coach Bucky McMillan announced Monday.

Phillips comes to Texas A&M after spending three seasons at Tennessee. As a junior in 2025-26 the 6-9, 221-pound forward started nine of the 10 games he appeared in before an injury cut his season short. Phillips played in all 38 games as a sophomore, helping the Volunteers notch a 30-8 record and run to the Elite 8. He averaged 4.6 points and 3.5 rebounds in 15.0 minutes off the bench and tallied 33 blocks on the year, swatting a career-high five shots against Norfolk State. Phillips scored a career-high 15 points against South Carolina and neared a double-double with 13 points and nine boards against Austin Peay.

Phillips was a 4-star recruit out of Link Academy, where he averaged 10.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, helping the team go 27-1, win the GEICO Nationals championship and finish No. 1 in both the ESPN and MaxPreps national rankings. He attended Jacksonville High School during his junior campaign, averaging 13.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game, while shooting 57.0 percent from the floor.

Away from the court, the Jacksonville, Alabama, native has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll three times and represented the Volunteers on the SEC Men’s Basketball Leadership Council.
