Texas A&M Men’s Basketball Adds Purdue to Non Conference Schedule

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

INDIANAPOLIS – The Texas A&M men’s basketball team bolstered its 2024-25 non-conference schedule by adding a neutral matchup with the Purdue Boilermakers at the home of the Indiana Pacers, the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The matchup is slated for Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 as part of the 2024 Indy Classic, which is administered by Indiana Sports Corp.

The Aggies are coming off a 21-win season that saw them advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, while the Boilermakers rolled to a 34-5 record that included the Big Ten regular season championship and earned a spot in the NCAA Championship game.

Texas A&M and Purdue have met just four times previously with the Boilermakers leading the series, 3-1. Texas A&M’s lone victory was a 71-64 outcome in 2001 with Melvin Watkins’ Aggies taking down Gene Keady’s Boilermakers in the Las Vegas Classic. In the most recent meeting, Purdue, led by current Boiler head coach Matt Painter, defeated the Mark Turgeon-led Aggies, 63-61, in overtime in the second round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament in Spokane, Washington.
