Texas A&M has an “acting president” to serve a brief period before an “interim president” is appointed.

A&M system chancellor Glenn Hegar announced Friday (September 19) that the system’s vice chancellor of academic affairs James Hallmark will serve as acting president.

This will be Dr. Hallmark’s third stint filling in for a presidential vacancy at an A&M system institution. In 2022, Hallmark served as acting president at Texas A&M-Kingsville and in 2016 he was the interim president at West Texas A&M in Canyon.

An e-mail Hegar sent to A&M students and employees did not indicate when an interim president would be appointed.
