The Brazos County sheriff’s office and Texas A&M police are investigating a report of hazing at an off campus fraternity.
A news release from the sheriff’s office says a report was made Sunday (September 21) of what happened the Sunday before last (September 14) at the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
News releases from the sheriff’s office and university police say an undisclosed number of current members are accused of taking an undisclosed number of pledges to a secluded area on fraternity property off North Dowling Road, where they engaged in physical activity until exhaustion.
At least one pledge sought medical treatment for undisclosed injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office or university police.
A university spokesperson tells WTAW News that the division of student affairs is investigating possible violations of the student conduct code.

On September 21, 2025, the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible hazing incident involving the Kappa Sigma Fraternity in the 10400 block of North Dowling Road, Brazos County, Texas. The incident is reported to have occurred on September 14, 2025.
Preliminary information indicates that on September 14, a group of prospective new members (pledges) of the fraternity were instructed to attend an event at the off-campus fraternity property. Current members reportedly brought the pledges to a secluded area where they were told to engage in physical activity until exhaustion. At least one participant later sought medical treatment for injuries sustained during the event.
The investigation has revealed there may be additional victims or witnesses. We strongly encourage anyone with information to contact our office.
The Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating this matter and has notified the Texas A&M University Police Department of the investigation.

• Report concerning behavior or activity to local law enforcement immediately.
• Join with other new members to refuse to be hazed.

On September 21, 2025, the Texas A&M University Police Department (UPD) was notified of a local law enforcement investigation regarding a reported Hazing incident that occurred at an off-campus fraternity property.
On September 14, 2025, a group of prospective new members (pledges) of a fraternity were instructed to attend an event at the off-campus fraternity property. The current members brought the pledges to a secluded area where they were told to engage in physical activity until exhaustion. Statement to WTAW News from a Texas A&M spokesperson:
Texas A&M University does not tolerate hazing and takes allegations of hazing seriously. The Division of Student Affairs is aware of hazing allegations recently reported. The allegations are currently under investigation for possible violations of the Student Conduct Code. The university will fully cooperate with any law enforcement investigations related to these allegations. Given the active investigation, we cannot share additional details at this time.
