BIRMINGHAM — Texas A&M football’s Albert Regis was named to the SEC Community Service Team, the league office announced Thursday.
Regis has dedicated more than 40 hours of service at Twin City Mission in Bryan and has helped hand out gift bags to pediatric cancer patients at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. He has also spent time speaking to several elementary schools in the area about the importance of education and doing your best in everything you pursue. On the field, Regis has played in 36 games through three seasons in Aggieland, starting all 12 games this season. The La Porte, Texas, native ranks second on the team and 19th in the SEC with six pass breakups on the year. He adds 32 tackles, including 3.0 for loss, while helping the Aggie defense rank sixth nationally with 54 pass breakups and 14th with 86.0 tackles for loss.
The SEC names a Community Service Team for each of its 22-league sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.
