Texas A&M Falls to Mississippi State, 3-2, at SEC Tournament

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M Softball fell to Mississippi State, 3-2, in the first round of the SEC Tournament at Davis Diamond. Mississippi State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first and added two runs in the third before the Aggies got their bats going in the fifth with a run on a Baylee Klingler sacrifice fly.  Texas A&M cut the Bulldogs’ lead to one in the sixth after Haley Lee earned a walk to start off the inning and a Morgan Smith single to right allowed Ashlynn Walls, who pinch ran for Lee, to cross home. Payton McBride and Morgan Smith led the offense as the pair recorded two hits apiece.  Kendall Potts was saddled with the loss after throwing the first 3.1 innings of the game, allowing six hits and three runs while walking one. Payton McBride closed out the final 2.2 innings of the game and fanned three while allowing two hits.
