Texas A&M’s faculty senate speaker continues to ask for local support of faculty members in Qatar.
This follows the board of regents decision to close the Qatar campus and continuing misinformation about the work being done by those faculty members.
During Monday’s faculty senate meeting (April 8), Tracy Hammond said Qatar faculty is “in a very difficult time right now and they do not have very much leverage.”
Hammond said “I see a lot of our administration working 24/7 to help our faculty in Qatar, including providing letters of support to our faculty members.”
And she told those attending the virtual meeting that “the faculty at Qatar are our TAMU faculty. Just as any faculty in Texas, they are TAMU faculty (and) they are part of our family.”
