News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
BIRMINGHAM – After delivering a career-best performance in Sunday’s win over Ole Miss, Texas A&M left-hander Shane Sdao has been named the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
The weekly honor marked the first of Sdao’s career and the third pitching award of the season for the Aggies.
In his second start of the year, the lefty tossed a career-high seven shutout innings and allowed only three hits en route to his fourth win of the year. Sdao also matched his career-high for strikeouts with six and retired the final 10 Ole Miss batters he faced.
The shutout marked the ninth of the year for the Aggies, which is tied for the third most in program history.
Sdao’s performance lowered the sophomore’s ERA to 2.03 and dropped his WHIP to .90. Through 40 innings of work this season, the sophomore has punched out 46 batters and allowed only eight walks.
The lefty and the Maroon & White return home to Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park May 16-18 for its final three-game set of the regular season against No. 3 Arkansas.
