Texas A&M Baseball’s Armstrong Signs with Mets

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M right-hander Eldridge Armstrong III has signed an undrafted free agent contract with the New York Mets.

Armstrong becomes the eighth Aggie to be drafted or sign an undrafted free agent deal in the last week, joining Braden Montgomery (No. 12, Boston Red Sox), Chris Cortez (No. 45, Los Angeles Angels), Ryan Prager (No. 81 Los Angeles Angels), Tanner Jones (No. 167, Kansas City Royals), Jackson Appel (No. 169, Chicago White Sox), Ali Camarillo (No. 346, Oakland Athletics) and Evan Aschenbeck (No. 392, Chicago Cubs).

In his lone season in Aggieland, the junior made four appearances and struck out seven in 4.2 innings of work. The righty’s best outing of the season came in regional play as Armstrong held Grambling scoreless over 2.1 innings and punched out three.
