BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Behind a strong performance from the pitching staff, the Texas A&M baseball team closed out its fall exhibition slate with a 13-1 victory over Houston Friday night in front 6,800-plus at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggie staff, which featured 10 arms on the night, held the Cougars to one hit and struck out 15. Newcomer Grant Cunningham logged a team-best three strikeouts in two scoreless innings of work, while Ty Baker, Clayton Freshcorn, Luke Jackson, Gavin Lyons and Brad Rudis each punched out a pair.
Blake Binderup led the offensive charge for the Maroon & White, finishing 2-for-3 at the dish with a game-high five RBI. Freshman Sam Erickson followed with a 2-for-2 performance that featured a two-run homer and an RBI single. Matt Bergevin, Gavin Kash, Caden Sorrell and Nathan Tobin also recorded a multi-hit game on the night for the Aggies.
Texas A&M returns to action this spring as the regular season is scheduled to begin on Friday, February 14.
