The Aggies (50-13) opened their 2024 College World Series run with a 3-2 victory over Florida Saturday night following a four-hour weather delay. The victory marked the 50th of the season for the Maroon & White and their second in eight tries in College World Series openers. The 50 wins are the most for Texas A&M since 2015 and the sixth time in program history they have accomplished the feat.

In the win, the Aggies struck out a CWS program record 16 batters led by six each from Chris Cortez and Justin Lamkin. In addition to a game-saving home run robbery, outfielder Jace LaViolette drew a pair of walks to bring his season total to 59, which is a new single-season program record.

Monday’s contest marks the 22nd meeting all-time between the Aggies and Wildcats (46-14). Texas A&M leads the series 13-8 and have won seven of the last 10 meetings. Monday’s game is the first neutral site meeting between the two clubs.

The Aggies are looking to advance to the College World Series Semifinals for the second time in three years and second time in program history. Under Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle, the Maroon & White are 15-4 in the NCAA postseason and 3-2 in Omaha.
