Texas A&M Baseball Run-Rules A&M Corpus-Christi

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M baseball team run-ruled Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 17-7, in seven innings Tuesday evening in midweek action from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

Catcher Bear Harrison led the charge offensively as the sophomore went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, three runs scored and a career-best five RBI. The multi-homer game was Harrison’s first as an Aggie and second of his career. Jace LaViolette followed with a 4-for-6 performance of his own to go along with two RBI. Kaeden Kent and Terrence Kiel II rounded out the multi-hit performers on the night for the Aggies (11-9) as the duo each finished 2-for-3 at the dish.

On the mound, Grant Cunningham earned the win in relief after tossing 5.1 innings of one-run baseball to go along with a pair of strikeouts. Starter Aiden Sims received a no-decision after allowing six runs, two of which were earned, in 1.2 innings of work.

After the Islanders (8-14) plated a pair of runs in the opening frame, the Maroon & White responded with six of their own in the bottom half to take a 6-2 lead. With the bases loaded, Kiel plated the first run of the night for the Aggies with an RBI single through the left side. Following a Gavin Kash sacrifice fly, Hayden Schott gave Texas A&M a 4-2 lead with a two-run single to right center.

Kent capped off the frame with a two-run double to right, marking his second double of the inning.

After A&M-Corpus Christi answered with four runs in the second and another in the third, Harrison put Texas A&M back in front in the bottom half with a two-run homer to left that traveled 413 feet and left the bat at 102 mph. Later in the frame, Kash plated the Aggies’ ninth run of the game with a sacrifice fly.

In the fourth, the Maroon & White tacked on four more runs as their lead grew to 13-7. Following a one-out single from Ben Royo, Harrison belted his second home run of the night to left that traveled 341 feet. An RBI single from LaViolette and a Kash sac fly accounted for the final two runs of the frame for the Aggies.

In the seventh, Sam Erickson, Harrison, Kent and LaViolette each plated a run as Texas A&M completed the 17-7 run-rule victory.
