News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – For the second time in the last three seasons and eighth time in program history, the No. 3 Texas A&M baseball team is headed to the College World Series after defeating Oregon 15-9 Sunday night in the NCAA Bryan-College Station Super Regional from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Super Regional title marked the fifth in program history for the Aggies (49-13) and third straight after winning in 2017 and 2022. Texas A&M has now won all four Super Regionals that have been hosted at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
Trailing 8-4 in the seventh, the Maroon & White sent 13 men to the plate and scored nine runs on only two hits, both of which were off the bat of Kaeden Kent, to flip the script and jump in front 13-8. Ali Camarillo, Hayden Schott, Jace LaViolette and Caden Sorrell all drew bases-loaded RBI walks, while Ted Burton plated another on a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded. Kent provided the exclamation mark in the frame as the sophomore belted his second grand slam of the season into Section 12 in right center as Texas A&M led 13-8.
Schott tacked on two more to the lead, 15-8, in the eighth as the graduate student ripped a two-run opposite field homer into Aggie Alley in left. The long ball marked the eighth of the year for Schott.
In the bottom half of the frame, the Ducks (40-20) pushed across the final run of the night courtesy of a solo homer as the Maroon & White went on to win 15-9.
Zane Badmaev earned the victory in relief to improve to 3-0 on the season after tossing a scoreless sixth. Evan Aschenbeck allowed one run over the final three innings and struck out four Ducks (40-20) en route to picking up his SEC-best ninth save of the season.
For the second straight game, Schott powered the offensive attack for the Aggies as the graduate student finished a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate to go along with a homer and four RBI. In the series, Schott went 7-for-9 and plated seven RBI. Kent followed with a 3-for-5 performance and a career-best five RBI. Catcher Jackson Appel rounded out the multi-hit performers for Texas A&M as the senior went 2-for-5 on the night.
After the Aggies struck first with an RBI single off the bat of Schott in the top half of the first, Oregon answered with four runs of their own in the bottom half all via the long ball to take a 4-1 advantage.
The Ducks extended their lead to 5-1 in the second on a double steal before LaViolette got a run back in the third via an RBI single to center.
