Texas A&M Baseball Beats Houston Christian in Fall Exhibition

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M baseball team showcased its depth and talent in a dominating 20-2 victory over Houston Christian in an exhibition game Friday night at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

The Aggies used 17 position players and 12 pitchers in the 12-inning affair. The Maroon & White compiled 17 hits, 10 of which for extra-bases, while the pitching staff totaled 17 strikeouts.

Sophomore Caden Sorrell led the offensive attack for Texas A&M, finishing 3-for-4 with a homer, triple and four RBI. Blake Binderup matched Sorrell with four RBI in the win and homered twice, finishing the night 2-for-6 at the dish. Newcomers Matt Bergevin (2-for-3), Sam Erickson (2-for-2), Jamal George (2-for-5) and Wyatt Henseler (2-for-4) also logged multi-hit performances for the Aggies.

In addition to Binderup and Sorrell, Erickson and Nathan Tobin also recorded a homer in the win.

On the mound, Ty Baker led the Aggies with three strikeouts in a scoreless inning of work. Jackson Brasseux, Clayton Freshcorn, Gavin Lyons and Myles Patton also registered a pair of strikeouts in the victory.

Texas A&M returns to action Friday, Oct. 25 for its final exhibition game of the fall against Houston. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. from Blue Bell Park.
