The Telehealth Counseling Clinic (TCC) is hosting an open house on Wednesday, September 9, from 4-6 p.m.
The Telehealth Counseling Clinic offers free mental health counseling and assessments from five remote clinics located in Bryan, Navasota, Centerville, Madisonville and Brenham.
Dr. Carly McCord, Director of Clinical Services at TCC, says all five counties they serve are designated mental health professional shortage areas.
“Services are hard to find and even folks with insurance, sometimes the copay can then make those services inaccessible to them,” said Dr. McCord. “The fact that the services are free certainly helps bring down a lot of barriers, the fact that they are located within the five counties makes them a little easier to get to.”
Dr. McCord said sessions are conducted by advanced doctoral students who are supervised by a licensed psychologist.
The open house will showcase the TCC’s counseling services, tele-mental health research and training opportunities.
Their clinic is located at the Texas A&M Health Science Center on Highway 47, Clinic Building 1, Suite 1300.
