The Texas A&M College Republicans hosted almost 200 people Monday night as they held their first forum designed to hear from those interested in the District 17 Congressional seat currently held by Democrat Chet Edwards.
Edwards was not invited to the event, but all six Republicans who plan to challenge for the seat were on stage first to give an eight minute speech and then to field questions that were submitted by the audience.

The crowd thinned some after the initial round of speeches, but 112 people stayed until the end and were given the chance to vote in a straw poll:
Dave McIntyre – 43 votes
Rob Curnock – 33 votes
Chuck Wilson – 17 votes
Timothy Delasandro – 14 votes
Darren Yancy – 3 votes
J.W. Autem – 1 vote
