A&M System Board Of Regents Officially Hire Jimbo Fisher

The Texas A&M system board of regents have officially hired Jimbo Fisher as A&M’s next head football coach.

Monday morning’s action followed an 11 minute executive session, and the board also approving the formal hiring of Prairie View A&M’s next president, Dr. Ruth Simmons.

Regarding Fisher, what the regents approved was technically: Authorization for the President to Negotiate and Execute Employment Contract with Head Football Coach, Texas A&M University”.

There was no discussion prior to the vote hiring Fisher.

The motion to hire Fisher was made by Cliff Thomas of Victoria and seconded by Elaine Mendoza of San Antonio.

Eight of the nine regents members participating in the vote all voted yes. Morris Foster of Austin did not participate in Monday’s meeting.
