Junior League of Bryan College Station is hosting the 6th Annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive this Thursday, August 6th.
The drive aims to provide more than 16,000 students in-need in our community.
Cassie Medlin, President of Junior League, said they collect money throughout the year, but the supply drive is their last big push.
“We actually buy almost $80,000 worth of school supplies for children with money that we raise throughout the year and this is our last big push to raise a few extra dollars and get a few extra supplies donated so we can provide even more supplies for those local children in need that probably wouldn’t have the basic needs to start their school year with,” said Medlin.
School supplies and monetary donations can be dropped off between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Brazos Center in Bryan and at the HEB Tejas and HEB Tower Point locations beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Three other ways to be a part of the Stuff the Bus school supply drive.
- Look for the bright yellow school bus boxes around Bryan-College Station until August 5 and drop in any supplies you wish to donate – a list of community partners hosting Stuff the Bus supply boxes, as well as supplies needed, can be found at www.jlbcs.org
- Use a Stuff the Bus donation slip from the HEB tear pad at checkout to give a monetary donation between July 15 and August 9 when shopping at any of the local HEB Grocery Stores
- Donate to Stuff the Bus school supply drive on our website at www.jlbcs.org
Additionally, this year Junior League will be awarding two grants: one elementary school in Bryan ISD and one elementary school in College Station ISD have the opportunity to earn $1,000 for their school.
Each person who makes either a monetary donation or donates school supplies at The Brazos Center location will be encouraged to add the elementary school of their choice into a drawing (one entry per person).
Entries can be made at the Brazos Center location only. At the end of the drive, the winners will be chosen and will receive the grant for their school.
If you have a child in Bryan ISD or College Station ISD that is in need of school supplies, you can communicate that need to your child’s school. The Junior League of Bryan-College Station, Inc. issues all of the donated school supplies directly to BISD and CSISD for distribution to their students.
