COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M standout Ross Stripling is headed to Washington D.C., as a member of the National League squad for Tuesday’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
If called on to pitch in Tuesday’s game, Stripling would be the first Aggie to take the mound in an MLB All-Star Game and the first Texas A&M player to play in the game since Chuck Knoblauch in 1997. Michael Wacha earned a spot on the NL roster for the 2015 All-Star Game, but did not see action in the exhibition.

In his third season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Stripling has pitched in 24 games in 2018, including 13 starts. He began the season in the bullpen, but was thrusted into the rotation with the Dodgers having multiple starters shelved on the disabled list. Stripling is 7-2 on the season with a 2.22 ERA, 1.075 WHIP and 103 strikeouts in 89.1 innings. He ranks second in the National League in ERA and leads the league in strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.92).
For his career, Stripling is 15-16 with two saves in 95 games, including 29 starts. He owns a 3.31 ERA with 251 strikeouts in 263.2 innings.
Last season, posted a 3-5 record with two saves and a 3.75 ERA in 49 outings, including 47 out of the bullpen. He joined the list of eight former Texas A&M standouts who played in the World Series. He made three appearances out of the bullpen for the Dodgers against the Houston Astros, posting 2.0 scoreless innings.
As a rookie, Stripling took a no-hitter into the eighth inning his first career appearance. He ended the season with a 5-9 record to go with a 3.96 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 22 appearances, including 14 starts.

As a senior that year, he was 10-4 with a 3.08 ERA and 120 strikeouts over 125.2 innings in 16 starts. He worked five complete-games in 2012, including one shutout. He threw a no-hitter against San Diego State on May 12, 2012.
The Southlake Carroll High School product was named All-America First Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association in 2011. He also earned All-America Third Team from NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball as a junior. He was 14-2 with four saves, a 2.29 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 24 appearances.
