The city of College Station is asking listeners to stay out of city parks…especially Wolf Pen Creek park.
Parks and recreation director David Schmitz says it is a considered a hazard for those considering swimming, wading, or boating in the swollen creek and/or sliding down the hill by the amphitheater.
At all parks, not only is it a safety issue but it is also costly to replace damaged turf and other plant life.

November’s meeting of the College Station ISD school board included an update about construction projects funded by voter approved bond issues in November 2023 and May 2024. Texas A&M president Mark Welsh visits with reporters Thursday (November 21) on a variety of subjects. Welsh spoke about his first year as president and his expectations for his second year. Specific topics include tuition, student-athlete pay, relationships on and off campus and with state lawmakers, student athlete pay, and observations about the Texas A&M-University of Texas football game. A pedestrian was struck by a train in College Station Thursday morning (November 21) A Union Pacific spokeswoman tells WTAW News that this happened around 7:15 a.m. on the tracks along Wellborn Road at a location that was not at a crossing. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital and the train crew was not hurt. In the comments section of the College Station police department’s Facebook page, an 18 year old student was struck. The man was walking near, but not on the train tracks. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and his family was notified. CSPD’s Facebook page says the intersection of Wellborn and Holleman West was shut down while police and railroad investigators were on the scene.
