Statewide H1N1 Conference Call

Health professionals took place in a statewide conference call Wednesday morning to discuss the H1N1 virus.

Brazos County Health Department Emergency Preparedness and Response Coordinator Mike Paulus says the flu situation is not bad for local schools at this point.

One Bryan ISD campus has about 14 percent of students out with the flu, while College Station ISD is running at 10 percent or less.

Paulus says common symptoms of the H1N1 virus include sore throat, high fever and sore muscles. He says the virus seems to be taking about three days to run its course.

Brazos County expects 183,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine in the next two to three weeks.

That is enough to vaccinate more than half the county.

Adjacent counties will have some vaccine, but will also rely on people coming to BCS to get vaccinated.

Texas A&M is getting 40,000 doses for their students.
