St. Joseph Hospital Clarifes “Lockdown”

A lockdown at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan just after 8 p.m. Sunday was explained by spokeswoman Melissa Shay.

She said the term “lockdown” is commonly used in hospital operations, and last night referred to an ER patient being watched by police.

“As a result of having this person there and as a precautionary and safety measure we went into “lockdown” in order to more closely monitor visitors coming into and out of the ER,” Shay said.

She said all other hospital operations were business as usual.
