SPCA Gets Dogs Seized in Norh Texas

DENISON, Texas (AP) _ The SPCA of Texas has been granted custody of 22 dogs seized from inside a car in Pottsboro.

Grayson County Justice of the Peace James Harris ruled Monday that the animals had been cruelly treated.

Harris told The Associated Press that the owner of the dogs was not able to provide evidence that she could properly care for the animals, seized Feb. 9.

Harris says a representative from Adult Protective Services is assisting the owner. The judge says the woman apparently had been evicted and had been staying in the car, with her dogs, for about two weeks.

SPCA of Texas says many of the dogs will be available for adoption Friday at shelters in McKinney and Dallas.
