DALLAS (AP) _ Southwest Airlines Inc. plans to begin flying out of Logan International Airport in Boston this fall.
Brad Hawkins, a spokesman for the Dallas-based airline, said Southwest Chief Executive Officer Gary Kelly announced the move in a message to employees Wednesday night.
Kelly said in an interview with The Boston Globe that Southwest would start off with between eight and 12 daily departures from Logan and probably would initially fly to just a couple of destinations.
Hawkins said Southwest at Logan would “augment what is already a strong presence for Southwest” in New England.
Southwest flies into Manchester, N.H.; Providence, R.I. and Hartford, Conn.
