Some Heavy Hoops headed Ags’ way

For A&M basketball, this is a momentous few days coming up for both the mens and women’s game. The men have no mid-week game but they must fly to Lincoln to try to get a Big 12 road win at Nebraska, a team that’s 2-3 in the league but very nearly knocked off Kansas in Lawrence before Texas did. The Ags have to somehow focus on the Huskers without giving thought to the Monday night game two days later against against Texas, a quick re-match with the team they didn’t show up against just last Wednesday in Austin. The Aggies, by the way, dropped just one spot to 11th in the coaches poll and two spots to 13th in the AP poll after their 1-1 week last week.

For the women, who remain ranked 6th in the AP poll and will likely stay 5th in the Coach vote, they have an even bigger task of not looking ahead. Tomorrow night they play at 13th ranked Oklahoma, one of the toughest places for a visitor to win in the conference. Only on the flight home tomorrow night can they start thinking about Sunday’s high-noon shootout with No. 1 ranked Baylor at Reed Arena. So how tough is it for the Ag women? Well A&M, Oklahoma and Baylor are tied at the top of the standings at 5-0.
