District Judge Steve Smith announced today that he will be a candidate for re-election in 2010.
Smith, who sits in the 361st District Court, has served as a District Judge for almost 11 years.
He served as Judge of County Court at law No. 1 from 1995 through 1998, prior to which he was the Presiding Municipal Judge in College Station and in private practice since moving to the area in 1977.
Judge Smith serves as Chair-Elect of the Judicial Section of the State Bar of Texas, and is a faculty member for the Texas Center for the Judiciary and the National Judicial College.
He also is an adjunct faculty member for Blinn College, where he teaches State Government.
Judge Smith and his late wife, Becky, have two adult children, Christopher and Laura.
