Six Weeks From Texas A&M’s Home Football Opener, Comes Parking And Traffic Reminders

For the second straight summer, Texas A&M officials are planning and holding meetings with as many groups as possible about the Aggies home football opener on August 29.

Advice from Tim Lomax at the A&M transportation institute during the last meeting of the Faculty Senate included staying off of Wellborn Road starting at midday on game day.

Lomax says as football fans come to campus on game day, as many as 13,000 students are leaving campus at the end of the class day.

Lomax says this year, buildings will remain unlocked, which did not happen last year.

Secure and clear times for streets and parking lots will be later than last year. Secure times were extended until 3:30 p.m. and clear times were extended until 4:30 p.m. Street closure times will depend on location.

Faculty teaching night classes will be able to park based on the license plate on their vehicle, instead of having a special placard.

Questions and comments about parking and traffic can be e-mailed to footballthursday@tamu.edu.
