Shots Fired At Off-Duty Bryan Policeman

An off-duty Bryan policeman driving his personal vehicle on the Earl Rudder Freeway in College Station Tuesday evening reported a motorcyclist shot at him.

College Station Police reports no one was hurt and the motorcyclist was found in Bryan, where he was arrested on a variety of charges.

The shooting, reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after the unidentified officer had entered the freeway. Both vehicles were going north when the Bryan officer says the motorcyclist moved in front of him, pulled out a pistol, and fired at least one shot.

The Bryan PD officer found the motorcyclist in the 4500 block of Park Hampton in Bryan. College Station Police arrested 43 year old Sonny Alan Holligan of Bryan and found the pistol believed to have been used in the shooting.

Holligan was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon by a felon, committing deadly conduct, and evidence tampering.

A female passenger on the motorcycle was not arrested after College Station Police determined she was not involved.

The freeway’s northbound service road north of Rock Prairie Road was closed for over 90 minutes following the initial call.
