AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Texas Sen. Brian Birdwell, who was badly burned in the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, calls the killing of Osama bin Laden personal justice for the entire nation.
Birdwell, a Republican from Granbury, was working at the Pentagon when a hijacked plane hit the building. He was burned over 60 percent of his body and endured dozens of painful surgeries during his recovery.
Birdwell said Americans are right to celebrate the news and that bin Laden was a murderer who got the justice he deserved.
Birdwell was given a standing ovation in the Senate. He then led the chamber in the Pledge of Allegiance.
