Second Bryan Blues Festival This Weekend

“Generation 2 Generation” is the theme of this weekend’s second Bryan Blues Festival.

As with last year’s inaugural event, performers who grew up in Bryan are returning home.

And that’s where the theme came from according to one of the organizers, city councilman Paul Madison.

There’s no admission charge for attending the performances Friday and Saturday night from 7 until 11 at the Palace Theater in downtown Bryan.

Paul Madison visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.

The 2013 Bryan Texas Blues Festival will take place Friday, June 14, through Saturday, June 15. Both nights will host performances from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Palace Amphitheater.

Together, the Brazos Valley African American Heritage and Culture Society (BVAAHCS) and the City of Bryan created the festival to celebrate the range of music, culture and heritage in the Brazos Valley. This year’s theme, “Generation 2 Generation,” captures the goal of melting not only the culture of the community, but also the generations of musicians and artists in Bryan.

Performances include Grammy award-winning recording artist Donald Ray Johnson, College Station native Ciarra Marcel, and Nisha.
