The time has come to find a new First Lady of Texas A&M.
Reveille VIII watched her last football game at Kyle Field on Thanksgiving night, as she is retiring this year.
As part of the search process for the new Rev, applications were sent to breeders and shelters all over the country.
Tom Reber, Interim Vice President of Student Affairs, said there are specific requirements the search committee is looking for in applicants, including being female.
“The first two applicants we received were male dogs… I said Reveille is known as the First Lady of A&M and it has to be a lady,” Reber said.
The twelve person search committee is made up of veterinarians, faculty, staff, and students from various organizations including the Traditions Council.
Reber said the committee’s goal is to select a dog and have her trained in time for the Corps of Cadet’s Final Review in the spring semester where the transition from Reveille VIII to Reveille IX would take place.
