A milestone in the construction of the new Scott & White hospital in College Station was held Thursday.

The last piece of steel in the superstructure of the 119 bed facility was raised in what was called the “topping out” ceremony.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. William Rayburn thanked the 275 construction workers who have at the site since March of last year.

Scott and White officials expects the number of construction workers to grow to 400 as the six-story project continues.

Construction is on schedule for the hospital to be completed in the summer of 2013.
