School Zone Speeder Jailed For Repeat Offenses

All the reminders in the world to obey traffic laws won’t stop all offenders.

Tuesday after school, a Bryan Police traffic officer stopped a car clocked at 32 in a 20 mile per hour zone near Sul Ross Elementary School.

The driver, 20 year old Sonia Hernandez of Bryan, landed in jail accused of driving with no license and having no insurance after seven previous convictions for both offenses.

BPD’s Jon Agnew, a veteran of the traffic unit, says to look for school zones posted with signs and zones posted with flashing lights.

Reminders also include the ban on texting and talking on cell phones while driving in school zones.
