COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 8 Texas A&M Aggies got an 11th-inning, opposite-field, walk-off double by Baine Schoenvogelto beat the Northwestern State Demons, 7-6, Wednesday afternoon on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies got the game-ending rally going with two outs in the inning. Will Frizzell singled to second base and was replaced by pinch-runner Cole Taylor. Cole Bedford punched an opposite field single through the right side to push Taylor into scoring position. After looking at a first-pitch strike, Schoenvogel drove the pitch down the rightfield line, rounded first and headed for second base where he was mobbed by teammates as Taylor scored the winning run.
Cole Bedford was 3-for-6 with one double and Chris Andritsos was 3-for-6 with two runs as the Maroon & White pounded out 16 hits.
With much of the staff scuffling early on, Cason Sherrod (1-0) came on to pitch in the seventh inning and was impressive to pick up the victory. He scattered three hits while striking out four in his 4.2 innings of work.
The Aggies improved to 13-1 on the season. Northwestern State saw its mark drop to 7-6.
