Schedule Changes Following The Passing Of Laura Mooney

Update from the city of College Station:

In the wake of the unexpected passing of Laura Dean Mooney, wife of Mayor Karl Mooney, Tuesday’s grand opening at the Larry J. Ringer Library has been postponed until further notice.

Similarly, the Oct. 24 meetings of the College Station City Council have been canceled. Currently, the next scheduled meetings for the council will take place Nov. 14.

With deep sadness and sorrow, the City of College Station shares the unexpected passing of Laura Dean Mooney, 59, wife of Mayor Karl Mooney, at their home Thursday night. Mrs. Mooney was a tireless and selfless advocate for many worthy causes and devoted countless hours in service to her community, state, and nation. She was especially passionate about our first responders, reducing drunken driving and improving road safety. The heartfelt prayers and condolences of the entire city organization are with Mayor Mooney and his family.

At the request of Mayor Mooney, a fund is being established at the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley to honor the legacy of Laura Mooney. Memorial contributions should be made payable to:
