Motorists in the Wellborn community had to navigate around a closed railroad crossing Saturday afternoon and early evening following the collision of a semi and a Union Pacific train.
College Station police report the semi driver was not injured and was ticketed for failing to yield to the approaching train.
Union Pacific reported the crash at the South Dowling crossing near Wellborn Road took place around 1:30 p.m. Train traffic resumed around 6:15.
UP reported no one on board the train was injured after the train struck the semi’s fuel tank. The tank did leak some diesel fuel which was cleaned up.
Photos from College Station police and firefighter social media also showed the collision knocked over a pole holding a railroad crossing arm and warning signals.
CSPD also reported the train was disabled for an undisclosed reason by the impact.
