With Angel Tree candidates complete, the local Salvation Army is now seeking volunteer bell ringers to help raise funds this Christmas.
Lieutenant Jeremy Walker says it provides for the year’s social services, and the more volunteers, the fewer ringers they have to pay and more money to do good with.
Walker says some groups turn the fundraiser into a game by organizing competitions against one another and seeing who can raise the most money.
He says 82 cents of every dollar are guaranteed to go back into the community, and the rest is used towards operation costs.
Walker says shifts are from ten to eight with a minimum of two hour shifts.
To volunteer, call 979-324-1096.
