Rudder High School has named Mike Carrabine as the new Head Boys Basketball Coach.

A successful Varsity Boys’ Basketball coach and proven leader with 32 years of experience, Mike Carrabine joins Bryan ISD as the new Head Boys’ Basketball Coach for James Earl Rudder High School. Mike began his career in Houston at St. Thomas High School where he led the team to a State Championship and was named the Texas Christian Interscholastic League Coach of the Year. He later transitioned to the public school sector and coached successful teams at Sweeny ISD and Crosby ISD before his most recent positon of 20 years at Dulles High School in Fort Bend ISD. At Dulles, Mike directed five boys’ basketball teams while his Varsity teams competed in one of the most competitive districts in the state. Mike’s accomplishments include Bi-District championships, Region III Quarter-finalist championships, Region III Semi-Finalist Championships and a Texas AAAAAA Basketball State Finalist team. Mike is well respected in the Basketball community and among his peers as he has been named Coach of the Year on several occasions. In addition, Mike has held leadership positons including Past President of the Houston Area Basketball Coaches Association, Board Member of the Houston Area Basketball Coaches Association, Board Member of the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, and keynote speaker at Basketball coach clinics.
Mike is married to Ginger, also an educator, and has three children. His oldest son, Andy, who graduated from Texas Tech University, lives and works in Houston, his son, Zachary, is a student at Tulane Law School, and his daughter, Kathryn, is a student at the University of Alabama.
