Rudder Football Coach C.M. Pier Stepping Down

Rudder High School Head Football Coach C.M. Pier has stepped aside as head coach to serve in another administrative role, allowing him more time to focus on the health of family members.

After discussing Pier’s family concerns and the direction of the program at Rudder, which has struggled over the years with a 13-43-1 record, district administrators and Pier began mapping out a new role for him.

“Coach Pier is a man of character and class,” said Superintendent Tommy Wallis. “We wish him and his family the best.”

Pier began his career in Bryan ISD in 1992 as offensive coordinator under Marty Criswell at Bryan High. He launched the football program at the newly constructed Rudder High School in 2007 as head coach and athletic coordinator. The program existed for one year at Bryan High School with a team of freshman, moving to the new Rudder facility in 2008.

Pier’s new role in the district is expected to be finalized after the holidays.
