ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) _ A Texas man has been accused of poisoning his neighbor’s dogs after their barking disturbed him.
The Austin American-Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/18LnrEL ) Wednesday police have charged 58-year-old Gary Thomas Ewald with cruelty to non-livestock animals.
An arrest warrant says Ewald’s neighbor, Matt Alpers, captured video of Ewald pouring a liquid in the backyard of his home in the affluent Austin suburb. Police say Alpers told him he had found his dogs convulsing in the backyard several times. Alpers told police the dogs recovered, but a veterinarian was unable to run tests without knowing what toxin to look for.
The warrant says Ewald told police he cleaned his barbecue pit and poured the remains in Alpers’ backyard, but it was not toxic. The warrant says Ewald told police the barking bothered him.
