Robertson County FY 2012 Budget Approved on Split Vote

The Robertson County Commissioners Court voted 3-2 Monday to approve the fiscal year 2012 budget that starts Saturday. That includes three sheriff’s patrol deputies moving to similar roles with county constables.

County Judge Jan Roe says the sheriff’s budget continues to have a six figure surplus.

Comments from Jan Roe.

Roe says she never considered using the $300,000 dollar surplus in the sheriff’s department to raise the pay of deputy constables to the same level as deputy sheriff’s.

More from Jan Roe.

Deputy constables in Robertson County make $3,000 less per year than deputy sheriff’s officers.

Constables in Robertson County will be hooked up to a computer system used by all county departments except the sheriff’s office, which Roe says will reduce paperwork processed by their Justices of the Peace.
